Es war im Sommer hier in Wandsbek, Geoffrey Hilton Barber aus Durban ZA entstieg einer Chauffeur Limousine, ihm wurde der Wagenfond ge\u00f6ffnet, sodann kam er zielstrebig \u2013 am Arm seines Chauffeurs \u2013 in meine Werkstatt, um sich eine Windpilot Anlage pers\u00f6nlich anzusehen \u2026 mit den H\u00e4nden \u2026 denn Geoff war blind. <\/p>\n<p>Ein erstaunlicher Nachmittag, der wie im Fluge verging, der tiefe Spuren in meiner Seele hinterlassen hat. Immerhin wollte Geoff einhand von Durban nach Freemantle in Australien segeln. Ich war vom Donner ger\u00fchrt, zog meinen Hut vor dem Mut dieses Mannes, der bereits viele andere Herausforderungen vorher \u201cmit einem L\u00e4cheln\u201d bestanden hatte. Vier Wochen verr\u00fcckter Eindr\u00fccke von und mit einem Mann, der voller Tatendrang Unm\u00f6gliches m\u00f6glich machen wollte \u2026 und jede Herausforderung bezwang. W\u00e4hrend seiner \u00dcberfahrt habe ich dann die folgende Mail erhalten, die erahnen l\u00e4sst, wie tough dieser Mann seine Reise gemeistert hat. <\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/windpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Message.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"656\" height=\"415\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21834\" srcset=\"https:\/\/windpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Message.jpg 656w, https:\/\/windpilot.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/03\/Message-300x190.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 656px) 100vw, 656px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Nach Totalausfall seiner Bordbatterien war es ihm sogar gelungen, von einem Fischtrawler, an dessen Bordwand die Abacus wild auf und niedertanzte \u2026 sich Ersatzbatterien an Bord abseilen zu lassen. Geoff hat seine Reise furios in Freemantle beendet und in der <a hohe Wellen<\/a> geschlagen.<\/p>\n<p>Vor wenigen Jahren wurde Geoffrey anl\u00e4sslich seines <a
