SV SOLVEIGH IV, a HR 42, Number 77 built in 1983 has been cruising around the world with the famous German Circumnavigator ROLLO GEHARD during 1983 – 1991.
Todays owners Beate und Detlev purchased the boat in 2002 and converted her to todays standards during 2 years of hard work.The started from their homeport Hamburg in 2004 and cruising around the ball without time limits now since 7 years time – not finished yet, as they are staying in the Pacific now.

SV Symi, Crododiles love affair with Windpilot
Australian Pilot books mentions saltwater crocodiles to be dangerous, advising the following:
DO NOT leave the dinghy hanging out of the back, especially at night. In particular a rubber duck. Either tie it alongside or lift it out of the water. The crocodiles seem to have a love affair with outboard motors and rubber ducks in particular.
We know better now, as we have realized a missing piece of 15 x 6 cm of the lower end of your Windpilot rudder – very obviously a “Salty” has has a love affair with our Windpilot which we did not realized…
Pilot book says “Just because you cannot see them, does not mean that they are not there.”

Hallo Herr Förthmann, Moin!
Ich hoffe, es geht Ihnen gut und Sie genießen den Sommer. Wir sind mittlerweile in Südfrankreich und damit im Mittelmeer angekommen. Der Mast ist gestellt und wir haben auch schon die ersten Tage auf dem Wasser hinter uns. Das Mittelmeer präsentiert sich wie erwartet: entweder zu viel Wind oder keinen Wind oder Wind auf die Nase 😉 Dafür ist das Wetter traumhaft schön.

Questo sito nasce con l’esigenza da parte dell’autore di raccontare e trasmettere il concetto di viaggio; Inizialmente del vagabondare in barca a vela, microcosmo e casa che si sposta fisicamente, forse la casa ideale. Di seguito ho volutamente inserito argomenti che esulano dalla pura navigazione, sono invece riferiti alle conoscenze che dovremmo avere nel percorrere ed esplorare luoghi remoti o per noi nuovi e diversi; Bagaglio personale indispensabile per comprendere. Personalmente ritengo che l’essere umano dovrebbe essere molto più consapevole di ciò che lo circonda. Quante volte avete osservato attentamente un uccello dalla vostra finestra? Quante volte vi siete chiesti del perchè di una particolare conformazione del territorio? Vi siete mai sentiti parte integrante in simbiosi con l’ambiente? In buona sostanza, la bellezza dei fiori, animali, boschi, montagne innevate e, presupposto anche del mare, mi hanno motivato ad investigare più a fondo nelle scienze naturali. In futuro vorrei arricchire questo sito con altri documenti relativi all’argomento; Un modesto lavoro, senza grande rigore scientifico, documenti dall’approccio semplice e comprensibile che ognuno potrà poi approfondire a proprio piacere. E per finire … sono un incorreggibile curioso, desideroso di sapere per amore di conoscenza. E voi?

Ich träume von einer Blauwasserreise, die verschiedener nicht sein könnte.
Mir schwebt eine Fahrt quer durch Frankreichs Kanäle vor: durch die verschiedensten Landschaften, auf dem Weg ins Mittelmeer. Neben den geplanten Flusskilometern soll auch ausreichend Zeit für Land, Leute und Kultur bleiben. Ein großer Teil der Reise soll, neben dem Segeln, auch der Fotografie gewidmet werden.
Ein Besuch auf der französischen Insel Korsika soll einer der Höhepunkte im Mittelmeer werden. Zu dieser Insel habe ich seit zwei Jahrzehnten eine enge Bindung. Den letzten Sommerurlaub habe ich dort gemeinsam mit meiner Freundin verbracht und mir geschworen, das nächste Mal auf eigenem Kiel wieder zu kommen. Mit viel Zeit im Gepäck, um die traumhaft schöne Insel von der Seeseite genauer unter die Lupe nehmen zu können. Hier geht´s zum blog
