Oyster 435 cruising around the playball writing interesting blogs. They wrote this message:
Peter, the Pacific Plus was so good that we were able to use it even when motorsailing, thus minimising the amount of time we had to share the wheel. What a fantastic piece of kit it is.
I understand from friends that we can buy a ’tiller pilot’ to attach to the PP, which sounds like a fabulous idea. Which model do you suggest I should look at? We have an old Oyster 435; she’s quite heavy.
I simply cannot over emphasize how much we love our Pacific Plus and how it has revolutionised our sailing.read more about their adventures

Dear Peter,
This past year has included three single handed cross channel outings in order to take the decision on the Atlantic crossing for 2008. The roughest was in May returning from Cherbourg in a forcast 5-6 S/W. This was later confirmed to be Force 6-9. This passage was through the night and in significant seas for a boat of this size, running under reefed staysail only and surfing down a quartering sea. Since fitting the PACIFIC LIGHT , I am enjoying both long and short trips as hook up as soon as I clear the Chichester harbour entrance. It makes all the difference in having an extra helmsman that can cope hour after hour in any conditions. (Note: I did go and do a proper sea survival course and up my gear to include a proper liferaft and EPIRB). read more and see the video in sep. posting

Brewer 36 sailing in Irish, Scottish and Caribbean waters having a Windpilot Pacific at its transom. Guillaume wrote this message: “Sehr geherte Peter, I hope this email finds you well. Apologies for not contacting and thanking you earlier re the Pacific MF1 we bought. Too many things to do to get started on the return sail to Europe. We tested the windvane around St Martin early May and left St Martin on 13 May towards Bermuda – but did not stop there. This email address is our sailmail email account by the way. We are now more than halfway between Bermuda and the Azores: about 600 miles left. Our pos is 36.06 N 041.14 W. The wndvane has been working very well under a number of wind & wave conditions, and so constantly. We have hardly had to manually steer – only following a steep windshift. So we’re very happy with it. Sincerely Guillaume” read more

SV ArgonauteIII, Jean-Pierre Denjean FRA

Garcia 50 cruising in Antartic and Pacific performed by a Windpilot Pacific Plus. Jean Pierre wrote this message:
Dear Peter,
The Pacific windvane handled perfectly above 10 knt of apparent wind & manage correctly between 5 and 10 and it’s a bit lazy below 5knots. This Is good to us. We trim the sails to get minimum work at the wheel and connect the pacific that’s it! Leaving the main wheel free (Hydraulic). If somebody turns the wheel by mistake the pacific has a little more work to do but handle it perfect.
By the way , this site is good to know to compare windvane vs. electric pilot. https://members.shaw.ca/taonui/windvane.html
Best regards

Hi Peter, Hope this finds you well. Please see the attached which will soon be appearing in Yachting Monthly. I didn’t have enough space to say how well the gear works with wind alone, but this has interested so many people that YM decided to run it. I love using it this way.
