Circumnavigation part 4

HOME AGAIN … AND THEN WHAT ?
WU # suchbild m.WP Kopie

The last few miles pass in a flash and then it’s a headlong plunge into a joyous, welcoming throng of loved-ones, friends and family. Even ancient distant relations never normally to be seen anywhere near the sea make an exception and put in an appearance. There follow scattered moments of bliss, a few tears, much waving, popping of corks and draining of bottles and a fair smattering of “We must catch up properly soon”. continue here

MAROC – ESCAPE FROM PARADISE
This was my fourth time in Magrebh. We enter in Morroco at MARINA SMIR. After one week we decide to visit El-Jebha an ancient fishing port 47 miles east of Smir. when we clear out ask for an authorization to visit the port. The official call by mobile his colegues at Jebha and said “you can go” As soon we enter the breakwater someone was crying loud go away, go away ! Astonished with that situation go alongside a fishing boat and talk with another guy not so nervous like the other and he said to anchor at Cala Cangrejo, 100 meters from the main port. At night around 11:00pm we wake up with a lot of lights and noise from a gunboat. two officers come abord and look everything, including passports, boats documents etc…. At the end said we must leave next morning. Cant explain that we have a permission bla, bla, bla. Not a good memorie to keep from this beatiful country

Before we installed our self-steering wind vane, the flashiest things on the boat were our brightly colored-coded reefing lines. Now we not only have a contemporary German kinetic sculpture attached to our transom but also a third form of steering – that’s in addition to hand steering and autopilot – and it’s quickly become our favorite. Our Windpilot Pacific Plus self-steering system has so far more than proven its value. CONTINUE

CIRCUMNAVIGATION NEARLY COMPLETED
Peter,
I need to order some parts for my trusty old Windpilot Pacific. We left Hawaii ten years ago on our Peterson 44 and have only one leg remaining (Tahiti to Hawaii) to complete our circumnavigation. The unit has performed without a problem except for u/v damage to some exposed plastic parts which finally failed last season.

Circumnavigation part 3

windpilot03
In our dreams
Waterproofs, I would suggest, do not to feature much in most dreams of sailing around the world: fair winds, following seas and capable, entertaining (as you will) and steadfast company are much more the order of the day. Reality likes to paint a rather different picture, however, taking events – and with them relationships – in directions we never intended. Sometimes this just counts as part of the fun, but sometimes people find themselves having to reach an accommodation with their life rather than actively living it, at which point the bluewater dream becomes a solo exploit (or the boat stays at home). Social evolution amongst yachtsmen

Dinghie Schlepp
SOCIAL INTERACTIONS and SOCIABILITY
The ground rules for successful social interaction are impressed on us repeatedly from our very earliest days: be polite, no hitting or pinching, be helpful, be kind and share share share… All amenable social interaction unfolds on the basis of conventions that we generally accept and – more or less willingly – accede to and whose cornerstones are respect and empathy towards our fellow humans. continue
