SINGLE HAND ROUND ATLANTIC – BEN HUR AT THE HELM
So, just a few words about my trip , alone .. or … not really as I always have my best companion, never tired, always ready to drive Nomade, my Windpilot. I left South Britannia in august last year. Spain, Portugal, Madeira, Canarias, Cape Verde, Carribean from Martinique to BVI’s, back to Guadeloupe, and now on my way back, stopped in Horta. I can say that I probably should not have been able to do this single handed trip without « Ben Hur » (This is The name I gave to my windpilot, when I was searching a word which rhymes with « regulateur d’allure » in french.) Benhur was still there.
There were sometimes exceptions like in strong winds with gusts and rough seas, navigating crosswind, it was hard to keep the boat on its course in unstable conditions, and I did it manually or sometimes with the electric pilot, but in a big majority, Benhur does the job … and I even just go to sleep at night as much as I can… let it at work.
