WINDPILOT, MY BEST CREWMEMBER EVER
Guten Morgen Peter, von Marseille nach Las Palmas ging es schnell. Bin mit meiner 50 Jahre alten Reve d‘Antilles in 8 Tagen von Gibraltar nach Las Palmas gesegelt. Denke ich hatte ein beschissenes Wetterfenster mit Starkwind und Wind direkt auf die Nase. Nur eineinhalb Tage auf Raumschotkurs. Aber es hat Spaß gemacht und nach den Kanaren Richtung Kapstadt werde ich eine geraume Weile in die Tradewinds kommen. Mein bestes Crewmitglied war der Windpilot, mein erster Offizier. Ohne ihn beleidigen zu wollen musste Wilson Cast Away, auf den zweiten Offiziersplatz rücken. Er hat es ohne zu murren erduldet und als Belohnung habe ich ihm mal wieder etwas Luft gegeben, so liegt er etwas strammer an meinem Steuerbordfenster. Die Zeit dieser Reise habe ich genutzt und dein Buch gelesen. Da erkenne ich in so mancher Story parallelen zu mir. Auch ich würde am liebsten per Handschlag Geschäfte machen bzw. Vereinbarungen treffen. Die Ehre ist nicht käuflich. Daher bin ich auf dem Weg als Solosegler nach Kapstadt mit meinem drei Meter hohen Banner, welches ich in jedem Hafen hisse, darauf steht „Ich segle gegen alle Idioten dieser Welt, für Freiheit, Gleichheit, Brüderlichkeit und Respekt gegenüber dem Leben.Liebe Grüße von einem seeluftschnuppernden Rentner

ABOUT OUR QUIET HELMSMAN AND RELIABLE WORK HORSE
Hi Peter, As for the steering, we were really happy with how it turned out to work on the Ovni from the day we started using it and still is. Easy to fit, easy to use and has been completely reliable all these years since you sent it down to us when we stayed in Italy. Having said that, I knew what I was getting as we had the same but older model on our previous yacht as well, which was a long keeled Fantasi 37. Quite frankly, I have never used better. Our quiet helmsman and reliable work horse. Lastly, thanks a lot for very good service with valuable advice from you when we started using it.

Peter,
After our most recent passages we just wanted to send a mail to you with a massive thank you for both all your support in getting our windpilot working and for creating such an amazing steering system.

After lots of ‚playing‘ with the pilot we have finally got to grips with how it works and have had 600 miles of the most ideal sailing
with it. When the pilot is deployed the motion of the boat feels much less frenetic than under autopilot, there is no power use and as it uses a different quadrant from our autopilots we have another level of redundancy.

I cannot express just how impressed we are with how it works and how Ruffian feels.
