Hallo vielleicht kann mir Jemand helfen, ich Fritz Morf mache alles Administrative für Jo Schülli. Jo ist zur Nächsten Weltumsegelung in Durban am 31.Jan.24 gestartet am 24.3.24 hatte ich über Sat Telefon letzten Kontakt mit folgenden Angaben Geschwindigkeit: 6.02 km/h Strecke: ONO Breitengrad: -40.695966 Längengrad: 97.668993
Ziel war Australien oder New-Zealand.
Ich mache mir Sorgen.
Seine Yacht ist nicht mehr die Raven sondern heisst jetzt GOLAB
Vielleicht hat mir auch jemand Tipps in welchen Foren oder wo ich noch eine Suchmeldung starten kann.

HALLBERG RASSY MONSUN 31 VS ORCA – HARDLY ANY DAMAGES
Tiller broken at the top. Rudder is fine. Some of the prop blades were bent, but not 100% sure if that’s from the orca incident or happened before. All in all we’re pretty happy that we had no significant damages. johannes wagener

Hi Peter, Just wanted to let you you know that we had the auxiliary rudder rebuilt as per your suggestions. It’s working great! It got us from New Zealand to North Minerva Reef perfectly. We’re carrying on to Fiji today. Just wanted to let you know and say thanks for your help in figuring this out and thanks for making such a great windvane.

Dear Peter, We’ve finally arrived 10 days ago in the Marquesas after 34 days of light winds. Our Pacific unit worked flowlessly until the end. Only a few friction issues at the pulleys.
Well.
Definitely I love this product. I admit I had many chats at night with it.

Peter, I just wanted to send you a big thank you for all the advice you gave us a number of months ago before we bought a WindPilot from World Dancer.
We installed it in Panama and have now arrived in the Marquises.
The install proved to be pretty easy once we found the solution to avoiding all our internal bulkheads and the rungs on our ladder.

CONSIDERATIONS ABOUT THE LOSS SV IDA LINA
The ARCONA 460 is designed as a performance cruiser with wheel steering, which has a diameter of + 1.10 m and presumably manages with approx. 1.2 revolutions between the stops, i.e. a very direct power transmission to achieve considerable rudder angles with only small rudder deflections at the wheel.
In the first few seconds of the video we can see that the countered nuts for tensioning the cable transmission between the wheel and quadrant … are no longer present, nuts that are still present on the other side. It can be assumed that these nuts were able to work themselves loose over a longer period of time (presumably without being checked!), which could have resulted in the necessary rudder deflections becoming steadily greater. Presumably the autopilot
was activated so that the „slack“ in the cable transmission went unnoticed by the Crtew. The cause of the damage could therefore be that the rudder with pre-balance component was increasingly exposed to considerable vibrations because it was no longer limited by clear control signals, but instead deflected uncontrollably.

FANTASIE 37 – 50.000 SM BETWEEN GREENLAND – ANTARCTICA
Hi Peter, It’s been a long time since we were in touch. But since then we have logged 50000 miles between Greenland and Antarctica with everything in between. However we are now in New Zealand and will stay here until May 2025. Our Windpilot has generally worked very well for us. The only real issue has been the servo rudder attachment to the cast aluminum joint. I have been forced to make a number of various reinforcement to avoid breakage but now it’s alright, I believe. Peter, The vane works great. I have been very happy. My outboard work-around has been successful so far. Sailed from Port Townsend, WA to La Paz, Mexico with it so far. Marquesas is next.

Vielleicht wird’s kein Denkmal aus Stein oder Stahl, aber sicher eines in meinem Herzen ( und vielleicht auch im Herzen vieler anderer Segler)

Hi Peter,
We are enthusiastic users of the pacific plus. It’s incredible how the vane brings us to far destinations across the sea. I’ve been enjoying the view of the blade going back and forth during many of my watches.
We’ve bought the boat about 5 years ago,
and it came with the Pacific plus. Since we bought it the connecting rod (< 98 part number 20
>98 part number 151, has been slightly bent) I could probably make one myself if required, but I am wondering if there’s spare parts available.
Also the Sticker with the wind angles has gone over the years. The ship was built
in 1999 and has been equipped with the Windpilot ever since. Is it possible to order a new sticker, so that looks all fresh and new?

Im Andenken an Wolfram, der leider vor 4 Jahren verstorben ist, dieses Foto der SV Atair aus besseren Tagen. Ganz erschrocken sehe ich ein Video, aufgenommen vom neuen Eigner, der das Schiff ungesehen ersteigert und nun in Cork / Irland mit der Realität konfrontiert wird, die eine ganz eindringliche Sprache spricht.

OPUS 35 – EINE SCHÖNHEIT MIT HECKVERZIERUNG
Moin Peter, bin gerade am Sichten meiner Reisephotos und stelle fest, dass ich von der tollen Unterstützung durch den Windpilot auf meiner Reise von Gibraltar nach Lanzarote gar keine Bilder geschickt//geteilt habe. Diese hier sind während einer nicht so stürmischen Phase entstanden. Auch bei Windstärke 8 mit stärkeeren Böen hat der Pilot mich wacker auf Kurs gehalten und mich wunderbar entlastet auf meiner Reise zu den Kanaren, wo ich mich auch derzeit (Jan. 24) noch aufhalte.
